Apple Hand Pies
Ingredients
  • 1 Package Pie Crusts- Two Crusts, that you can roll out
  • 2 Large Apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 Cup White Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt
  • 3 Tbsp Water
  • 1 1/2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Tsp Milk
  • 1 Tsp White Sugar, for topping

Instructions
  • Line baking sheet with parchment paper, set out pie crusts to reach room temperature.
  • Cut apples into chunks filling about 3 cups.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat until it turns light golden brown.
  • Stir in apples, sugars, and salt.
  • Stir often and cook for about 5-6 minutes.
  • Stir in water and cinnamon.
  • Continue cooking until apples are soft and sticky.
  • Spread filling out onto a plate to cool.
  • Preheat oven to 400F.
  • Whisk together egg and milk for an egg wash.
  • Unroll pie crusts onto a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut 6-inch circles out of each crust.
  • Spoon about 1/4 cup of filling into each crust, slightly off-center.
  • Brush the outer edges of crusts with egg wash.
  • Fold dough over mixture and press edges with a fork.
  • Put on baking sheet and slit the tops of the pies a bit.
  • Brush tops of pies with remaining egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.
  • Bake about 15 minutes, until golden brown and bubbling.
  • Cool for 20 minutes.
  • You're all done!
